Indonesia Expert Network for Climate Change and Forestry
APIK Indonesia Network is an Indonesia Experts and Practitioners Network for Climate Change and Forestry focusing on education, research, and community services related to climate change. APIK Indonesia Network comprises of seven regional networks and has 491 total members come from 107 universities, research institutions, training centers, ministries, local governments and other institutions throughout Indonesia. The organization was established in 2014 and actively contributes to global efforts for facing the climate crisis especially in national level and regional level in Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific area. In this year, during challenging COVID-19 pandemic situation, Indonesia Expert Network for Climate Change and Forestry (APIK Indonesia Network) continues to work and will convene the
Climate change is one of the greatest environmental issues in recent decades and the developing countries are suffering its adverse impacts. Mitigation and adaptation are keys for reducing greenhouse gasses emission and increasing resiliency or reducing vulnerability. The developing countries contribute to global emission, but in another hand also have a high potential risk of climate change impacts with limited capacity, finance, and technology to support climate actions. The developing countries should enhance their capacity on mitigation and adaptation measures without and with support from developed countries toward a just and sustainable future.
The full implementation of Nationally Determined Contribution ( in this decade will determine the achievement of global efforts in order to meet the goal of the Paris Agreement. While as we realize that the Paris Agreement’s target is still in the path ways to be above 1,5 degrees warmer. The 1,5 degrees target demands more ambition under updated NDCs from all Parties, including developing country Parties. Besides, National Adaptation Plan ( is expected to increase resiliency particularly for poor people and vulnerable communities, area s or countries. The solution for mitigation and adaptation need to consider local context on economy, social and ecological aspects. The nature based solution that incorporate s economy and social issues will bring us t o our just and sustainable future.
Therefore, this 3rd International Conference of APIK Indonesia Network is dedicated as a forum for key stakeholders for strengthening engagement, sharing ideas, exchange best practices and lesson learns, also for disseminating updated climate policies and science. The conference will involve politicians, policymakers, business communities, academicians and researchers, also media and civil organizations to build symmetrical climate actions.
