Climate Change: The Risk to Sustainability and Environmental Issues

APIK Indonesia Network. “Climate Change : the risk to sustainability and environmental issues” has become the title for the 4th International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC) that was being held at 18-19 November 2019 in Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This event was a collaboration between Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Graduate School of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Ikatan Ahli Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (IALHI) and Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Gifu University -Japan.

Several experts not only from Indonesia and Japan but also from Australia, Bangladesh and Vietnam invited as speakers to share their knowledge on how Climate Change effected their countries vegetation, plantation which furthermore affected farmers in many area.

The conference mainly talked about the effect of the raise on temperature which then increase the evaporation and precipitation. The increase make the water storage reduced and thus the plant also effected. This condition will affected globally as agricultural product decreased.

Aside from water storage reduction for human and plantation, this event also share knowledge on sediment disasters (rockfall, landslide) that caused by forest harvesting.

These information needed to be shared to farmers and public in preparation on facing the climate change and to sustain the quantity and quality of agricultural product.

APIK Indonesia Network sent Arif Sulfiantono (Java Region Coordinator) in this event and by the discussion with ICCC commitee, there would be collaboration in the future between APIK Indonesia Network and ICCC.
